Idk how many people come across needing this. But here's how I solved it quickly in bash just based on what I was trying to get at the moment.

for i in curl https://github.com/carlospolop/PEASS-ng/releases/latest -L|grep -i "releases/download"|awk '{print $2}'|sed s/'href="'/'https\:\/\/github.com'/g|sed s/'"'//g; do wget $i; done

I'm not sure why people make version tracking and repository software then make their websites have features not directly supported. You can however add releases with git and manage them, and even append additional compiled executables with them, however when pulling this with git it will still only get the branch version code not the goodies.

Haven't found a better way around this yet using git with github, but I'm looking.
